후문(後門)에서 '똑똑' 소리가 들리기에 "누구시오?" 라고 물었다.
굳게 닫힌 문틈으로 들리는 것은 명확한 답변이 아닌, '휘유' 하는 한숨소리 뿐이다.
나는 문을 열까 말까 안절부절, 고민을 하다 결국 궁금증에 몸을 내어주고 말았다.
문을 열자마자 그를 통해 왠 시커먼 것들이 쏟아진다. 워낙 순식간에 일어난 일이라, 다시 문을 닫아봐야 너무 늦었다.
망연자실하여 어쩔 줄을 모르던 나는 뒤늦게 걸어잠근 문짝에 쓰여진 명패를 본다: [괄약근]. |
